Lighting is like jewelry for your home! It's one of my favorite layers. Once the lighting is installed, a space really begins to feel like a home. We chose a mix of brass, crystal, and interesting shapes for our lighting. I am perpetually inspired by French interiors, so you'll notice a lot of gilded details and lanterns throughout our home. I'm planning to switch out some of our white shades with patterned pleated ones soon. I often see custom shades in Southern homes, and it's such a thoughtful detail that stands the test of time.

When selecting lighting, my best advice is to really look at the scale and size of each light. You often get what you pay for, and there's a reason that Target lamp is less than $100. Bedside lamps, for example, should be a minimum of 30 inches tall. If you're not sure what size lighting you need, this podcast episode by Alice Lane is a wonderful resource!
